What is Wordle?
Wordle is a word-guessing game where you have six attempts to identify a hidden five-letter word. After each guess the tiles change colour to tell you how close you are. It's simple to learn but genuinely rewarding to master.
Wordelly takes the classic format further: unlimited games, nine variants, cognitive scoring, and a global leaderboard, so you can play and improve any time.
The three tile colours explained
Each letter in your guess gets one of three colours after you submit:
- Green: the letter is in the word and in exactly the right position.
- Yellow: the letter is in the word but in the wrong position.
- Grey: the letter does not appear in the word at all.
Step-by-step: your first game
Follow these steps and you'll have your first win in minutes:
- Open Wordelly and select Classic mode.
- Type any five-letter word and press Enter.
- Read the colour feedback and eliminate impossible letters.
- Use confirmed letters (green/yellow) in your next guess.
- Repeat until you solve the word, or use all six attempts.
Common beginner mistakes
Avoid reusing grey letters. Once a letter is grey it won't appear in the answer, so including it again wastes a guess.
Don't fixate on one word too early. Keep your options open until at least three rounds of feedback narrow the field significantly.
